Tezuka Kunimitsu is the 11th episode of the Nationals OVA and the 5th of the Rematch against Hyotei arc. It originally aired on January 26, 2007.

The opening song is "Kakaeta Kiseki" by Aozu and the ending is "Fujouri" by Hyotei Eternity.

Summary[]

Tezuka vs Kabaji in Singles 2 of the quarterfinals. An untold history about Tezuka Kunimitsu in the Kyûshu Region before his rehabilitation is shown. In the present time, can Tezuka stand up to Kabaji's imitation of himself?

Anime and Manga Differences[]

  • Tachibana is shown giving Tezuka a hospital recommendation in the anime.
  • Tezuka finds out Miyuki's name from a fallen tennis application form in the anime.
  • Miyuki explains her problems with yips to Tezuka in the anime, in the manga he finds out by watching one of her matches.
  • Miyuki grabs Tezuka's arm in the manga causing him to shove her down in a panic, revealing her identity as a girl. In the anime her hat falls off while serving a ball.
  • Miyuki acts as a "coach" to Tezuka in the manga due to her believing he is terrible at tennis (unbeknownst to her it's cause of his injury).
  • In the anime the group of tennis delinquents mentions Tezuka going to Germany for rehabilitation, in the manga it's Kyuushuu.
  • Tezuka plays another one of the tennis delinquents before Miyuki interferes in the manga, this is skipped in the anime.
  • In the manga Momoshiro correctly predicts that it would rain, this is not said in the anime.
  • Atobe pulls Ryoma's hat down in the anime, in the manga he taps him on the head with a racquet.
