Maxwell was one of the 24 tennis players who participated in the tryouts for the No.14 position in the USA U-17.

Like Dodo Obando, he seems to be of African descent.
Personality[]
With his initial meeting with Ryoma, he was very rude to him. When Ryoma defeated him, he swore at Ryoma.
He is also arrogant. He thought highly of himself only to be crushed by Ryoma.

Maxwell provokes Ryoma
Maxwell is met at the USA U-17 Tennis Academy. Ryoma accidently walks into him and drops his uniform. He and two other (unnamed) team mates rudely speak to Ryoma about disrespecting the American stars and stripes. He abuses Ryoma then challenges him to a match. He and his two team mates are quickly defeated. Unable to accept his loss, he swears and attacks Ryoma but gets tangled in the court's net.
Prior to the U-17 World Cup Quarter-Finals[]
Maxwell reprimanding Ryoma
Maxwell is seen with the other US representatives and prospects during USA's practice matches before the quarter-finals. He later approaches Ryoma and says to him that with his actions, he should not be behaving like that as the finals is already near. He adds that he should be just taking his place if he is scared of the stronger teams. Rocky interrupts them and reminds Maxwell how strong Ryoma is, with both of them being badly defeated before.
Later on, as all representatives faced Ryoma as per Ralph's instruction, Ralph also made Ryoma play against Maxwell, even if he is not a representative. To their surprise, Maxwell was able to score against Ryoma this time, compared to how he was easily beaten before. This just shows how big the hesitation is in Ryoma's heart that he is not even able to defeat opponents that he had already defeated before. Eventually, as Ryoma leaves the team, Maxwell says that even though he already got Ryoma off his back, he still feels sad to see him go.

- He is the 2nd American player that is African-American. 3rd if Bobby Max (anime only character) was included.
