Masami Higashikata (東方 雅美, Higashikata Masami) is the vice-captain of the Yamabuki Middle School tennis club. He is a doubles player who typically plays with the captain, Kentarou Minami. Together, they are known as the Jimmies, referring to jimi (地味), the Japanese word for plain or dull.

Masami has black hair with dark green eyes. He is always seen wearing his Yamabuki Tennis uniform.

Prefecturals[]
In the Tokyo Prefecturals Yamabuki goes up against eventual winners Seigaku. The Jimmies end up facing the Golden Pair Oishi and Kikumaru and ultimately lose.
Regionals[]
He and Yamabuki went to the Regionals and cruised through to the Quarter-finals.
Nationals[]
Yamabuki went to the nationals but were eliminated at the 2nd Round by Nagoya Seitoku. Meaning Higashikata's tournament was over. However He and Yamabuki stayed present at the tournament to witness the final between Seigaku and Rikkai Daigaku Fuzoku.
U-17 Camp[]

He, along with Jin Akutsu, Kentarō Minami and Kiyosumi Sengoku are invited to U17 camp along with several other Middle Schoolers.
There he is easily defeated by Rin Hirakoba during the Tie-Break style matches which resulted in him going on the coach with the other losers in the Drunken Coach's Mountain to train with the High School losers and the Drunken Coach .

Higashikata is an Aggressive Baseliner and like Minami, is an extremely skilled doubles player. He is noted by Banjii to have completely mastered the basics and Oishi has noted that Minami and Higashikata has no true weaknesses as a doubles pair. He is the one who sets up the plays for Minami's poaches, possessing a sharp and powerful serve with great accuracy. His doubles skill was noted to be good enough to have been scouted for the U-17 camp.
