Kotoha Kitazono (北園 琴葉 Kitazono Kotoha) is the manager of Tsubakikawa Gakuen's Boys' Tennis Club, which represents Hokkaido in the national tournament.

Appearance[]

Prince of tennis ch241 p071 raine

According to the official art by Konomi, Kotoa is a fair-skinned girl with medium-length brown hair and dark brown eyes.

The two times she is seen, she is wearing her school uniform. Compared to the manga, her uniform in the anime is grey and her tie is red.

Background[]

Kotoha first appears in chapter 241, volume 28 to spy on Seigaku's tennis club and most specifically Ryoma Echizen. She is later seen again in chapter 272, volume 31 during the Tezuka vs. Kite match attempting to give a bento (boxed lunch) to Keigo Atobe. She is outright rejected by him and told to head back to Hokkaido.

In fanbook 40.5, Kotoha is shown to have crushes on both Ryoma and Keigo.

Anime[]

Kotoha is shown once in the anime in episode 8 of the National OVA for a very brief amount of time. Like in the manga, she attempts to give Atobe a bento, only to be outright insulted and rejected. However, unlike her manga counterpart, Oshitari Yuushi apologizes to her for Atobe's behavior and tells her she should probably head home.

History[]

Prior To Nationals[]

Kotoha first appears after the Regional Tournaments at the Seigaku training ground after being hit in the head by a stray tennis ball.

Nationals[]

Kotoha and Tsubikakawa go to the Nationals, and in the 2nd Round she is apparently part of the large audience that gathers around to watch the Singles 1 encounter of Seigaku VS Higa between Kunimitsu Tezuka and Eishirō Kite respectively.

After the match, she confronts Keigo Atobe and offers him some cake that he rudely refuses as he walks straight past her.

Etymology[]

  • The name Kotoha means "Japanese harp" (琴) (koto) and "leaf, plane, lobe, needle, blade, spear, counter for flat things, fragment, piece" (葉) (ha).
  • Kotoha's surname Kitazono means "north" (北) (kita) and "garden, park, plantation" (園) (sono/zono).
