Julio Roman is a 3rd Year High School representative from the Spain U-17 Team. He serves as the team's Vice Captain as well.
Appearance[]
Julio wears a black headband on his head, with his hair in a white color and a quite messy hairstyle sided to the left. He wears the Spanish U-17 uniform.
Personality[]
Compared to the other Spanish representatives, Julio is quite more talkative and outgoing. He usually initiates conversations along with other members and is also able to bother Medanore about his notebook. In this sense, it appears that Julio plays a part as a binder of the team despite an image being depicted by the Spanish team as having poor teamwork.
History[]
Julio first appears in Chapter 370 of the manga in the Spanish U-17 headquarters before the U-17 World Cup Finals. He later on summons Mares de Colon and asked him regarding Rodrigo's action of sniping Ryoga. Mares then explained that he had just sniped Rodrigo in order to protect Ryoga and that Rodrigo himself was just in a wrong position. As punishment, Julio orders Mares to be with Rodrigo on a special training regimen. It was there implied that Julio has a skill of recognizing the emotions of the people around him by observing their subtle facial expressions. Later on, he visits Medanore and notices his diary. Julio talked to Medanore and stated that after the tournament, they should do what they had promised the previous day. Julio then went to the court to practice when suddenly Silva de Bambieri joins him in a rally. Julio then asks Silva about the twins, perhaps referring to the children whom Silva had been buying pastries for.
Julio is seen to have an interest in finding out what Medanore's secret is. This is further strengthened in Golden Age 385 when he was asked by Silva if why does he have a great interest in learning Medanore's personality. They are later intrigued when they met the twins Raul and Renato, the kids who Silva buys blueberry pastries for. The twins are also tennis players whom Silva and Julio helped to improve their skills. At first, Julio amazed the twins by showing his accuracy skill in tennis by hitting a tennis ball through a small hole. Silva, meanwhile, used his acrobatics to return the ball from the sidewalk back to the tennis court. They later played a game against the twins and helped them improve a shot which was previously always thrown out. The twins later shared to them that a man wearing the same uniform as them named Medanore visited them twice, however, they noticed that Medanore is different when they visited them for the second time. That intrigued Julio and the next day, they talked again to the twins as Silva clarified if Medanore had a dual personality. The twins then stated that Medanore does not have a dual personality, but instead, there are two different Medanores.
