Inakichi Nitobe (新渡米 稲吉, Nitobe Inakichi) is a regular from the Yamabuki Tennis Club. He plays doubles and his partner is Kita Ichiuma.
Background[]
Although Nitobe and his doubles partner Kita Ichiuma aren't as good as the Jimmies, they are a force to be reckoned with, defeating Fuji and Kawamura. Nitobe attended the match between Tezuka and Atobe. He and Kita mocked Atobe's oversized ego.
Appearance[]
Nitobe has brown hair with an unusual hair style. On top is hair, is a curly leaf. In Atobe's gift, when asked what it was, nobody could answer.
Personality[]
History[]
Tokyo Prefecturals[]
Yamabuki power their way through to the Semifinals of the Tokyo Prefectural Tournament and meet underdogs Fudomine Junior High who had already caused an upset in the tournament. However Yamabuki did not have to go through a long match with Fudomine as Ibu Shinji suffered an injury before the match making him forfeit meaning Yamabuki were gifted an extra win and were able to easily reach the Finals of the Tokyo Tournament where they met Seigaku in the Finals.
Regionals[]
He and Yamabuki went to the Regionals and cruised through to the Quarter-finals.
Nationals[]
Yambuki gets off to a good start in the nationals defeating St. Icaria. Yamabuki ease their way to Round 2. Unfortunately due to the loss of Akutsu, Yamabuki couldn't win the next round against Nagoya Seitoku, ending their run in the Nationals.
Tennis Record[]
Playing Style and Techniques[]
None of Nitobe's matches were truly shown throughout the whole Prince of Tennis series, but it's been stated that Nitobe is skilled in Doubles. Inui noted that both the Yamabuki Doubles teams in the previous year went to the Nationals, but it is unknown if Nitobe was one of them. Nitobe's Doubles skills and cooperation with his partner Kita were skilled enough to defeat Fuji and Kawamura due to Nitobe and Kita's higher-level experience at Doubles. Out of all the Doubles matches Nitobe has played, he only lost once against Fudomine's Uchimura/Mori pair, with the match coming down to a tie-breaker.
Etymology[]
- The name Inakichi means "rice plant" (稲) (ina) and "lucky, good" (吉) (kichi).
- Inakichi's surname Nitobe means "fresh, new" (新) (ni) and "going to the United States/going to USA" (渡米) (tobe).
